How is MDF Made?
MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) is an engineered wood product made from recycled wood fibres and resin. Our MDF is eco-sustainable and manufactured in Australia using responsibly sourced eucalyptus and pine from plantation timber.
These wood fibres are compressed under heat and pressure, forming rigid sheets that are both strong and smooth. The result is a versatile, recyclable board perfect for use in picture framing and beyond.
All MDF sheets are 3mm thick and cut to size using industrial CNC machinery for accuracy and consistency.

Can You Cut 3mm MDF to a Custom Size?
We currently offer cut-to-size MDF in the standard sizes listed. However, if you need an uncommon size, you can manually trim a larger piece yourself using a utility knife and straight edge.
How to Cut 3mm MDF by Hand
Cutting 3mm MDF is straightforward with basic tools. Here’s how:
- Mark your measurements clearly using a pen or pencil
- Use a metal ruler or straight edge as a guide
- Score a groove firmly with a utility knife along your marked line
- Repeat the cut several times until the board can be snapped cleanly
