What is Self-Adhesive Foam Board?

Foam board is a lightweight, foam centered rigid backing substrate that is commonly used for mounting photos and artwork in picture frames. Foamboard shares comparable rigidity with corrugated cardboard, but is lighter, whiter, and smoother to work with.

This self-adhesive foam board comes with a release paper on one side, which once you peel off presents a layer of pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive that is ideal for mounting your pictures directly onto the board. This results in a permanent, flat and professional finish when framing photographic prints and posters.

How is Self-Adhesive Foam Board Made?

Our foamboard consists of three primary layers, with a dense, CFC-free polyurethane foam sandwiched between the top and bottom layers of smooth white, acid-free card paper. Foamboard is environmentally friendly and completely non-toxic. The top layer is coated with a thin film of permanent adhesive and then protected with a removeable release liner.

How to Mount a Print onto Self-Adhesive Foam Board

• When dry mounting your print, poster, artwork or photo onto the self-adhesive board, always start with the shortest side as the leading edge and carefully align and sticky down the first 2-3 centimeters first.
• Rather than pull back and remove the entire release paper away from the foam board, just start by reveal small, strip sections of a few centimeters as a time. This method will allow you to align and gradually smooth out your print onto the adhesive in smaller, safe steps. 
• Use a clean, soft cloth such as a microfiber cloth to gradually rub your print down onto the adhesive in each step. Rubbing firmly from side to side. 
• If you have a large sized print or poster, you may find it helpful to roll this up around the outside of a postage tube. This will allow you to hold and unroll this in manageable sections, as you gradually lay your print onto the adhesive surface. 
• After you have mounted your print or photo on self-adhesive foamboard, allow it cure for a few hours before assembling the mounted image into your picture frame.
