Mat Board Size & Fit

- Window Opening Fit - Openings are cut 3–5mm smaller than the listed artwork size, creating a slight overlap that helps keep your photo or print in place.
- Outer Dimensions - Cut to exact inches to match standard frame sizes (centimetre equivalents are approximate).
Note: Colours may vary slightly between screen and actual product. This matboard features a rich Burgundy Maroon Red surface with a clean white bevel.

Use our helpful Matboard Border Calculator to calculates the distance of mat board borders inside your picture frame, based on your artwork dimensions and frame dimensions. You can also generate a scaled diagram for this, with dimensions as well.
Artwork Dimensions
Enter dimensions of your artwork in centimeters, or inches. The calculator will subtract 0.5cm from each side for an overlap of the matboard and the edges of your artwork.
Frame Dimensions
Do not enter the overall outside dimensions of your frame. Instead, measure the backing from behind your frame, inside the frame rebate. These measurements will accurately match your glass size.

Mat Board Specifications
All Profile Australia mat boards and backings are made from premium acid-free pulp, buffered with calcium carbonate to provide long-lasting protection for your photos, artworks, and prints. Each mat features a crisp white bevel-cut window and is produced in our Sydney workshop with precision cutting equipment.
Cut & Construction
- Material Thickness: 4-ply, 1.4 mm thick acid-free mat board and backing, buffered with calcium carbonate for archival protection
- Cutting Precision: Professionally bevel-cut using our Swiss-made computerised mat cutter for a clean, accurate finish
- Double Mats: Optional double-layered window mats include a 5 mm bevel reveal for added depth
- Backing Board: Supplied in matching acid-free 4-ply thickness for added support and protection
Packaging
- Sizes up to A2 come in a resealable 40-micron cello bag
- Larger sizes are professionally shrink-wrapped
- Packaging is acid-free and moisture-resistant to prevent marking in transit
Fitting & Size Notes
- Window Opening: Cut slightly smaller than the image size (approx. 3–5 mm overlap) to ensure your photo or artwork sits neatly behind the mat board
- External Size: Cut to exact inch dimensions to match standard frame sizes
- Manufacture Markings: The reverse side of some window mats may contain printed manufacturer markings, which are normal and unavoidable

- Free Shipping – on orders over $150 (excludes WA, NT & TAS)

Please note: Due to excessive shipping costs for extra large parcels, we may not be able to deliver items larger than A1 size to remote or regional locations including WA, NT, TAS, and some areas of far north QLD. Orders to these locations may be refunded if delivery is not possible.
