FAQs for Custom Matboards
A matboard is a piece of acid-free board with a window cut-out that surrounds your photo or artwork inside a frame. It adds a visual border, protects your image from touching the glass, and enhances the overall presentation.

No problem! The easiest way to choose the right size is to measure two things:
- The outer dimensions of your picture frame (this tells us which matboard size to use), and
- The actual size of your image or artwork (this tells us how big to cut the window).
We’ll cut the window slightly smaller than your image to hold it in place.
If you're still unsure, we’ve written a simple step-by-step guide to help.

If you're new to using matboards, inserting your photo can feel a little fiddly - but it’s easier than you might think.
We recommend using acid-free tape or photo-safe adhesive to secure your image to the back of the matboard. Then, place the matboard into your picture frame with a backing board behind it.
